Guiding Questions

Guiding Question: What is the difference between health-related and skill-related physical fitness?

Health-related fitness is something everyone can benefit from and improves you body overall while skill-related fitness works to fine tune the sub-aspects of health-realted fitness such as power and speed.

Guiding Question: What are the health-related components of physical fitness?

Cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

Guiding Question: What are the skill-related components of physical fitness?

Agility, balance, coordination, power, reaction time, and speed.

Guiding Question: Why does a person not have to be a good athlete to be physically fit?

I believe that one doesn't have to be the idolized athlete that we so dearly admire within our society. Just by following simple workout routines that we give ourselves can we become physically fit without having to be an athlete to do it.

Guiding Question: Why is it important to know your current level of health-related fitness?

By knowing your current level of health-related fitness you can set goals for yourself as well as limits. By limiting yourself a little you're not putting an unnecessary strain upon your body while at the same time giving it the workout it needs to become stronger. This also helps you to set goals for yourself (e.g. you can lift 50 lbs. on a bar press by next week you will lift 60 lbs.) these goals can give you something to look forward to and work towards.
